JOHNSON MOBILE LAW REPEATS FREE SEMINAR FOR CONTRACTORS

Temple, Pennsylvania -- The Johnson Mobile Law Firm of Temple will repeat its popular free seminar for Home Improvement Contractors entitled “What You Need to Know About the New Pennsylvania Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act” or “How to be a Home Improvement Contractor Without Being a Felon.”

The “encore” presentation will be held on June 18, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the offices of the Johnson Mobile Law Firm, 4718 Kutztown Road, Temple.

The seminar will discuss how the recently passed Pennsylvania Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act will affect the way that contractors do business. The Act, which becomes law on July 1, 2009, does not regulate the quality of a contractor’s work, only the contractor’s business practices. A contractor who fails to comply with the Act may be liable for both criminal and civil penalties.

David Johnson is the scheduled presenter. Mr. Johnson is an attorney, mediator, and an ordained clergyman. Attorney Johnson will speak from his contracting experience. In his early ministry, he supported himself as a painting contractor. Later, while attending law school, he again supported himself by contracting.

At the seminar Attorney Johnson will discuss registering with the Commonwealth as a Home Improvement Contractor, what new contracting procedures the Act requires, advertising and marketing under the Act, and how to contract for emergency repairs without violating the Pennsylvania Consumer Protection Law. He will also make suggestions about how to approach difficult situations that are newly regulated by the Act.

Coffee and soft pretzels will be served at the seminars. Seating is limited. Reservations are required and can be made by telephone or by email.

The law firm will lease space in the Stout Associates building beginning March 2, 2009 and expects to complete its move from the current location in Douglas Township, Berks County on March 3, 2009.

Thinking About The Unthinkable:

Why Everyone Should Have An Estate Plan

Regardless of the state of the economy, your age or your net worth, it is important to have an estate plan in case the unthinkable happens; you become seriously ill or die. If you become seriously ill or injured, your doctors may not treat you as you desire because they do not have a way to know your preferences. Furthermore, if you die without an estate plan, the probate court decides what happens to your assets.  A professional up to date estate plan prevents this from occurring.

The drafting of an estate plan may not be something we look forward to, but the absence of one can create an incredible hardship on your loved ones. There are many stories about individuals whose intentions could not be carried out due to the fact that they never bothered to create an estate plan or never updated an estate plan written many years earlier.

A well-crafted estate plan contains more than just a will. An estate plan usually contains Power of Attorney and Health Care Power of Attorney documents. A Power of Attorney      authorizes your designee to do business in your name should you become incapacitated.  In other words, the person you chose as power of attorney can pay your bills, speak for you with your insurance company, and protect your property when you are not able to do that for yourself. Similarly, the health care power of attorney designates someone to make decisions about your health care when you cannot make them for yourself.

Another document often included in an estate plan is an Advance Directive for Health Care. An Advance Directive is presented to the hospital when you are admitted and sets to writing your wishes regarding “extraordinary efforts” and organ donation should the unexpected happen during your stay.

Depending on your circumstances, Trust documents may be included with your estate plan.  A trust is not just for the wealthy. It is a mechanism that can immediately provide for your children, spouse, or disabled family member without the delay normally associated with probating a will.  A trust may also offer other protections and tax advantages.

A Lawyer You Can Trust

Creating an estate plan that will meet you and your family’s needs requires more than answering a few questions on a computer and clicking the print button. It takes careful preparation, intimate knowledge of federal and state laws, and sensitivity to your values and beliefs. Finding a Christian lawyer to assist you with the process is essential.

I am a lawyer and an ordained clergyman with extensive training in mediation, counseling, and negotiation. As a lawyer, I understand estate and probate law.  As a minister, I value integrity, personal dignity, and the faith in Christ that I share with my clients.

Convenience And Affordability

I founded The Johnson Mobile Law Firm on the belief that lawyers should be available when and where their clients need them. With that in mind, Johnson Mobile Law “BRINGS JUSTICE TO YOU” by making house calls.  Instead of you traveling to your attorney when and where it is convenient for the attorney, now your lawyer will come to your home or office at a time that is convenient for you.

Another convenience offered by The Johnson Mobile Law Firm is that most of our services are available at a fixed price with no hourly billing. That means, in many instances, you will know the exact cost of our services before you agree to the work. In this way, when you get the bill, there will be NO SURPRISES.

Now Is The Time To Protect Your Family

If you do not have an estate plan or if the one you have does not express your current desires, I urge you to address this potential problem today. To get started call me at (484) 366-5847 or email me at davidjohnson@johnsonmobilelaw.com and request my Asset Inventory Tool. After you complete the asset inventory, I will help you assess your family’s needs and goals and make recommendations based upon that assessment.

So, why wait? I know you will find working on your estate plan with a Christian lawyer satisfying, but if for any reason you are not pleased, just let me know within twenty four hours of our initial meeting and I will return any money exchanged and you will have no further obligation. You have nothing to loose.

I look forward to meeting with you to help you protect your family and help you live a more blessed life.
